How do i keep my drawing visible

I can draw something simple like a square and then extrude it, but when i go to draw the next item, what ive just got done drawing disappears. I click light bulbs, the area beside the light bulb, hold my cursor over the area the object is supposed to be and click, I can get a side to light up, or the entire cube to light up but it doesnt stay that way. soon as i click anything at all, my drawing disappears.

By default, when features such as Extrude consumes a sketch, the sketch is made invisible.  You should be able to just click the light bulb for that sketch:

If that is not happening, please provide a screencast of what you are seeing.

Second, if you don't like this behavior, you can turn it off.  Go to preferences, on the Design tab, and uncheck "Auto hide sketch on feature creation":
