How do I join these edges?

[edit]

nevermind... figured it out... how do I delete a post? 🙂

I know it's probably something simple but I'm pretty new to 360 & haven't been able to get this to work...

Basically, trying to model something like an ice cube tray... I want to join the "ice cubes" to the "flat tray" surfaces where the red lines are below. I will be rounding out edges and adding thickness to it later...

thanks

Ok, think I got it - it looks like rather than joining the shapes, the extrusions have to be done into an already-extruded form, then faces are eliminated in Surface mode.

The cool part is that I can move the existing edge geometry around to relocate the extrusion!

However, after the faces are removed (and perhaps before, not sure) it appears that additional geometry / cutting objects can't be added to the remaining surfaces.

What functions should I be reading about here? Seems like it can be done, but again, I don't know what tools / methods to use. It seems like I should be able to draw a circle on the same surface, for example, and simply delete the inner geometry.

I think you are making this more complicated than it need be. Rhino is not the real world. Do you have a photograph (not virtual CG screen capture) of similar real world object of zero thickness?

When you can't figure something out - you should Attach your file here...

Or go back in history and Extrude.

Ok - I've gotten that far & am able to remove the circle on the surface.

Next step was to create another extrusion like the rectangle... I can't find a way to remove the surface geometry after the new extruded geometry is created. Again, would be great to simply be able to select the circle (which I can) and delete it (which I can't) and then join all the surfaces.

I'Il definitely have to find some tutorials because the geometry is definitely not doing what I expect! 🙂

File attached.
