How do I hide construction lines?

I've been away for a while, and thought this would have been incorperated by now, but I can't see a way to do it.

I think construction lines should just be totally removed.  After all, you can just use dimensions.

I really struggle to understand the resistance to adding this useful feature.

Sure, there are work-arounds and ways of sketching without using construction lines at all, but for those of us that grew up drafting in 2D in AutoCAD, with the ability to toggle layers on and off, it seems like an obvious omission.

If you don't use construction lines when you are drawing, fine.  But plenty of people do use them and find them useful - but it seems like a half implemented feature, without the ability to show or hide them....

I for one have never needed to turn off the dimension layer, and only very rarely turned off projected geometry - but I frequently wish I could toggle the construction geometry on or off.

Your example file did not make it.

What resistance?, if it is implemented fine, but it is not here at the moment.

Example of what?

The original question is "How do I hide construction lines?", simple answer, "you can't".

Anyone who has tried selecting a non-construction line that is on top of a construction line will understand that this would save time and add convenience, if it ever made it into the product.

A feature can be time saving and convenient, without having to be completely impossible to live without or work around.

There is a long standing request (message 55 above) to demo why it is needed.

When we see the sketch (as above,) comment is made as to more efficient sketching, not helpful?

quoting @TheCADWhisperer

I am specifically requesting a file that unequivocally illustrates the stated need to hide construction lines. Nothing more.  Is that really such a difficult request?

I figured your demo got lost in the black hole.

As per my reply above, there is no "unequivocal need" that makes it imperative to hide construction lines.  It would simply be convenient and time saving to be able to do so.

It's pointless uploading a file, only so the trolls on this thread can completely miss the point and go on about how they would have drawn that without using any construction lines.

I "grew up" using 2D AutoCAD.

If you consider Sketches as simply Layers with a different name - it is easy to toggle on/off construction line Sketch (Layer) - same as in AutoCAD.

Attach your *.f3d file here if you can't figure it out.

But it's not the same, because you can't reference geometry in a later sketch from an earlier one.

And if you turn off design history capture, projected geometry becomes frozen where it was projected and stops following the object it was projected from - so that doesn't work either.

Just as there are many different personalities in people, there are different workflows in CAD.  While one person may not use or need construction lines, others may find them very useful.  For those that find them useful, being able to toggle them one or off would be very nice.

1. Of course you I can.

2. Why, oh why would anyone turn of capture design history?  Where did you get that from my responses?

@TheCADWhisperer  - So why not upload a file to demonstrate your solution?

Yes I think it would be a nice addition to the sketch palette. The sketch palette already has multiple show/hide options so why not? With the edition of a show/hide button for solid lines you could easily delete all construction lines with ease.🤔

that not true. construction lines are very useful to mirror something in the sketch for example among many other things

I appreciate the offer, however, why not just show it on a simple sketch using e.g. a rectangle with two diagonals that are construction lines, the goal being to hide the diagonals? The only way to do this I'm aware of ATM is to create a second sketch over the first one and project only the solid lines, then hide the original sketch. It works although it's not as quick to set up as checking/unchecking a box.

i would also like the ability to hide construction lines. I create a lot of lofts, and the construction lines make it more difficult to visualize just the profile, and sometimes interfere with the ability to select the correct line to intersect with a plane. I would love an option to have the construction lines hidden except when editing a sketch. Just adding my bubble.
