How do I fill a rectangle?

I watch a lot of Fusion 360 tutorials. When they create a rectangle, it is filled; mine is empty; when I extrude it it is also empty.

I changed opacity to 100%, changed the visibility, change the material - nothing works - it seems that it can only create lines and unfortunately I cannot 3d print lines.

So, How can I fill the rectangle?

Hi,

1. wireframe.pngmaybe change display  settings to "shaded" helps.

2. If not >  share your design.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

There are two extrude commands in the context menu.  Did you perchance select the red arrow one?

Extrude1.jpg

It will extrude surfaces while the blue arrow will extrude solids.

When editing the sketch, make sure Show Profile is ticked in the sketch palette, to make sketch outlines shade in.

Might help....

this may sound kind of elementary but I wonder if you are selecting the profile or if you are selecting the actual outline.

when you select extrude make sure you select the area inside the lines rather than selecting the edges of the rectangle you want to extrude.

Changing display  settings to "shaded" worked.

Shouldn't be this the default behavior? It is counter intuitive to be only lines - especially for beginners.

Default is shaded, I'd guess somehow you've pressed Ctrl+7 by mistake at some point.
