How do I create a component from a sketch

so I create a sketch and a make a solid part using extrude

Now I want to use that "part" or component or whatever the right word is in other projects or even that project itself.

How do I go from making a sketch under the "sketches" list to have a component in an assembly. For example, if I import a part from McMaster car it comes in as a component or part its not a sketch.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

If you would have spent more of your energy on actually reading and understanding the thread than making your last 2 posts I might have been tempted to provide further help.

Alas, that is now out of the question!

I am happy to see that you took the time to reconsider your previous post and after some introspection, you came to that self-assessment.

After all, there is might be some hope for you!

It's really quite simple.

Step 1 is to read the documentation: https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-1C665B4D-7BF7-4FDF-98B0-AA7EE12B5AC2

Step 2 is to read what @TrippyLighting suggested.
