I would like to take a 70 degree wedge out of a quadball.  Is this possible?  I appreciate any help that you can offer.

Hi @Anonymous,

A screencast will be very helpful.

That could be very easy, or rather difficult. It depends on what you want to do afterwards with the model.

Here's the easy solution. You can create a quad ball, leave sculpt mode, which automatically converts the quad ball into a BRep (assuming you are in timeline mode). Then you could create a wedge with the solid modeling tools in Fusion 360 and use "Modify->combine(cut)" to remove the wedge action.

Dear TrippyLighting,

Thank you for your response. I created a quadball in Sculpt, and then
flattened it and made a shell - at least I believe that is what I have
done. I then left the Sculpt mode and the structure still has the segments
from when it was a quadball. I don't know how to take a slice out of this.

Thank you for your help.

I am not sure whether I watched yours or not; I have watched a bunch being
an eager learner. Please send me the URL for the talk.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help.

If you're such an eager learner, you may want to carefully look at the entire thread to discover that I've embedded the screencast in my 1st reply to you in this thread 😉

Thanks. Is a .png file acceptable for this purpose?

Thank you.  I was quite happy to see your video.  I am having a little difficulty repeating what you have done.  I am working on a laptop without a separate mouse, and when I right click after identifying the midpoint, it does not look like your screen.  I am not getting to where the sketch palette shows "normal construction" to click on.  If you have suggestions of were I have gone off track, I would appreciate hearing them.

Update: I have found "normal construction", but I don't know how to get the arc.  This seems like it might be some basic thing that I have not learned yet!  I appreciate your help.

With these workflow topics it usually really helps if you could make a screencast showing where you get stuck.

Hi @Anonymous,

This is the same as @TrippyLighting, but in a different way using a sketch and a Revolve:

Cheers / Ben

Thanks Ben. I have done this. However, my project is actually starting with a quadball, flattening the bottom, switching out of Sculpt, making a shell, and taking out a wedge.

I appreciate your help.

I have attached a screen shot.  I can draw the triangle. I can draw a line to the midpoint, but the midpoint click does not seem to work- can't get it to stick.  The contextual option is very elusive.  When I wanted to click it before clicking the midpoint, it was nowhere to be found (by me).  I have rerun your video in slow motion many times and I have tried many times to repeat your clicking on the three sides of the triangle without success.

It all looks so simple when you folks use Fusion 360.  Thanks in advance!

Hopefully this is a bit more explanatory than my speedy first screencast.
