Hole does not snap to point on plane

We have a simple rectangular plate and we need to place a hole in a certain position.

We created a sketch on the face and placed a point where the hole center needs to go.

The hole command does not seem to snap to the point. It is placed exactly where we click. Even when we clicked in the point, the hole center ended up slightly off.

This is a recurring problem with various types of geometry. It has happened quite a few times that we believed we placed something at a specific position only to discover later that our model ended up with subtle errors, up to several thousandths of an inch (which is significant to us).

What is the proper procedure to make holes and other geometries snap to exact points?

When. you place the hole, don't touch any of the drag-handles yet.

Select an edge of the rectangular face you are trying to place it on and you will be presented with a dialogue allowing you to define a dimension from that edge to the center of the hole.

Continue with another edge.

Hi,

In your screencast, you selected the At Point form the hole dialog box, and that isn't for the sketch points, it's for the vertex

You should select From Sketch to be able to snap to the point
