Hints on ho to design this ?

Hello,

I am new to Fusion 360 and I'd like to design this object in Fusion 360 :

The main issue to me is the hump on the side. I don't need it to be organic like above, it could be some kind of capsule but I want it to have smooth edges.

I saw several options on tutorials but if you had any hint on the best strategy to perform such a design it would be of great help.

Thanks a lot !

Thanks a lot @g-andresen ! That really close to what I'm looking for. Can you detail the modifiers you use ? I can't really see all of them. Also, do you think it's the same way if we want the inside follow the curve ?

Take a look at screencast and features in timeline

The screenshot looks like it was made in Blender.

I would model this in the T-Spline environment:

In Blender you would use the solidify modifier to thicken the thin shell. in Blender that is parametric 😉

This so great thank you for taking time to reply so accurately to my question. I was indeed in Blender but eventually I used a more formal-fusion-way using some of the features from @g-andresen. But I need to check this answer as the correct one as it is closer to the question. I probably should edit the question to a more "How to use form to reflect this blender model ?" way so it might help others.

Thx again.

Thanks a lot.

I couldn't reproduce the split face option but I found a way to perform what I needed.

I used the option “Along vector”

Thank you everyone for your time and incredible reactivity. For what it's worth, here is the final model which I'm happy with. I wanted more control and a more "geometric" shape. @g-andresen helped me with his videos and @TrippyLighting had the exact way to perform what I did in blender so I learnt a lot from you both.

Ha, you could have said that you modeled this in Blender yourself 😉

We never know where people "find" these models and most don't use Blender.

Just in case you are not aware of this, you can export quad mesh models from Blender as .obj files, and insert them (Insert -> mesh) into a Fusion model. You can then convert the mesh into a T-Spline and then BRep or surface body and work on them with the "normal" tools in Fusion.

OK understood. But to me it wouldn't have change the way because I wanted more control over the parameters, and I also want to learn the software so it would have been too easy. 🙂
