Help with Surface Workflow

Hi,

I'm trying to repair a model, by way of an easier explanation of my problem, Imagine you create a solid cylinder. If you delete a top face from within the surface workflow and PATCH + STITCH etc it is easy to get the 'cylinder' back to a solid.

Now, if you originally had a hollow cylinder and wanted to repair the ends how do you do it without the whole of the area being a solid face? I cannot get the Patch command to recognise the inner skin.

If it makes it easier to visualise, from within the Surface workflow, draw two concentric circles and extrude them to the same height. Now 'repair' the top or bottom leaving a hole down the centre.

Thanks

To stick with the hollow cylinder example, patch over the hole and then trim the inside, then stitch.

Screenshots and models help, as you should know by now 8-)

Hi Peter

Thanks for the reply - I thought I was doing something wrong! I assumed that the PATCH command would detect the inner skin - especially when the command had an 'Interior Rails/Points' selection option available.

Additionally, until you mentioned it, I didn't consider the TRIM command in Surface. I used this command to sort out the problem.

With regards your second point I thought the question was straight forward enough not to bother with pics.
