Help with projecting to, and create new body on curved surface please?

Hi, I'm building a scale model of a steam locomotive and need to model (then mill) the hinges supporting the circular door on the front of the engine (see pics from full size). The door is dished (convex curve) so the joint between each hinge and the door is a 3d shape. I've tried to project the hinge positions from a plane to the door's surface, but can't find a way to transfer the sketch to the surface so that I can 'build-up' the hinges on the door. Also, I need to extend the bodies off the door to create the rest of the hinges including the pin (axis).

I've looked extensively for other examples but no luck so far. The 3 pics attached should illustrate what's needed. I'll post a follow--up with the .F3D file if it helps.

Cheers, Andy

Offset surface.

You might also create one Hinge and then Mirror.

That's really helpful (and quick) - thanks!

I'll need to spend some time going back over your timeline to learn the steps but yes, it looks like a good solution.

Thanks again, Andy
