Help with design basics - move an imported SVG

Hello.  I'm a very novice Fusion 360 user.  I've only tinkered with this a bit with some very basic designs.  I'm having a really difficult time with simply moving elements around on a sketch.  You would think this would be an intuitive task of highlighting the element and dragging it to a new position.  However, I've been at this for an hour and I can't for the life of me figure out how to move elements around.  My latest struggle is with an imported SVG graphic.  I have an existing design with several sketches.  I'm using the "import" feature to pull in an image and it lands in a new sketch.  Once there, I can't move it from its original position, scale it, or anything.  I just want to move it over top of my existing model so I can extrude it.  Basically, here is what I'm trying:

1) import image - lands in a new sketch

2) edit sketch

3) drag mouse around entire image to select it - image is highlighted with many selection dots around perimeter

4) Right click on the image and select "move/copy"

5) This brings up the "move" icons with the arrows (for moving), circles (for rotating), and the square symbol.

This is where I'm stuck.  No matter how I interact with those move icons, nothing happens.  The image stays right where it is at and I'm only actually moving the "move" icon images themselves (the controls).  In other words, the controls are moving, but not the image.

This is very frustrating and I'm sure I'm just missing something basic.  I've tried to watch YouTube videos, but nothing is sheading light on this issue.  Can someone please help me troubleshoot this?

Thanks!
Jason

Imported SVGs create sketch geometry that is "fixed".  In the default color scheme, locked sketch geometry is green.  You need to select the geometry you want to move and "unfix" it first:

Fix/Unfix is a toggle, so if the geometry is fixed, this command will un-fix it.

Hi,

SVG are fixed after import, i.e. they cannot be edited.

The fixation can be removed with Window selection > Right-click > Fix/unfix. Sometimes you have to carry out this process twice.

Maybe:

Please share the file

File > export > save as f3d on local drive > attach to post

Hi,

I would strongly recommend that you do the embedded tutorials in the Fusion Documentation and also some of the

Self-Paced Learning to help you to learn fusion faster and better. They can be found here:

It is also much easier for the forum to help you if you attach your file AND a screenshot of what you want to achieve

and what the problem is. You can create a file to export like this:

Time spent on the tutorials and self paced learning will not be wasted. Also check out the three RULES that are pinned to the forum for further guidance.

Cheers

My heart sinks every time a new user downloads some "Stuff" from the internet and runs face-first into trouble. Unfortunately, this is a recurring theme.

Before downloading and importing "stuff" floating around on the internet, please learn to use the native tools in Fusion by following @Drewpan's very good recommendation. No one wants to hear that, but it is the best advice I can give based on over 3 decades of professional CAD use. There are no shortcuts, and there's no easy button. Those tutorials really don't take that long to complete, either.

Thanks for the advice everyone!  This was not working for 2 reasons:

1) SVG was locked as some of you mentioned

2) I had not selected a drawing surface upon which to place the image. It was floating out in space. Once I picked a surface of the model, it landed in the right spot and I was able to move and resize it once unlocked.
