Help removing part of body fusion 360

Hello,

I'm a beginner and this piece has taken me  a lot longer to design than I anticipated. I've ran into many issues and and have figured out how to resolve them (having fun learning along the way), but I am now stuck. Does anyone know how to easily remove the piece highlighted in blue from the rest of the body? I sketched everything out as one body and now need to remove this piece to edit and 3D print separately that will then be attached with a screw of some sort.

Heres a link of the issue I'm referring to: http://snpy.in/CFgGFf

Thank you,

Sal

If you could share your design that would help.

You man be able use "Modify->Split Body" to split off this part as a separate body.

You may be splitting off more than just this body and then need to use "Modify->Combine(join)" to reattach extraneous bodies.

In general as you move forward into more complex designs you may want to work with components, not just bodies.

You can read about the differences in the Learn section in the Assemble section.

Once you are familiar with the difference between components and bodies you may wan to consider

Fusion 360 R.U.L.E #1

Before doing anything, create a component and make sure it's activated.

All objects created after activating the component such as sketches, bodies, construction geometry, joint origins, etc.  are created in that component.

This has several advantages:

  1. On activation the timeline is filtered to show only those items in the timeline that pertain to that component. That will make the quickly growing timeline much easier to work with.
  2. If a component is exported to the data panel with "save as" this will also export the complete parametric design history.
  3. Drawings can only be created from components
  4. The joints in the "Assemble menu only work with components.

When another component needs to be edited for example to add geometry, it should be activated before doing so.

Under modify, there is a "Delete" command. When I hover over "Delete", it says, "Delete the selected entity from the design." and "Select components, bodies, sketches, and construction entities to remove." Why doesn't this work? I have brought in a CAD model of a hammer grind mill with a lot of moving parts. I want to cut this thing down in size. All I can do with these extra bodies is to turn visibility off.

Autodesk Fusion 360 appears to be a good tool for creating geometry, but a lousy tool for modifying imported CAD drawings. I'm going to get a license for AutoCAD.

I know this is a little late. But for people stumbling upon this post - Right click on the body part and click 'Remove' instead of delete.

I have the same problem but when I press remove, the body disappear, but when I go back in sketch, the body part that I have remove is still there. And when I try to delete it, I get reference error.
