Help creating an indent on a curved surface.

Spent quite a bit of time trying to find a solution for this, however it has proven to be less straight forward than I expected. I am trying to create a dimple (to basically reduce material) set in on the blue areas of this screen-shot. Shell doesn't work due to the complex curves here, though I had expected it would. Push/Pull (Offset) doesn't either because of the curved surface – and that was the first thing I tried. I've seen some posts about possibly using loft? In this example, I'm looking to indent straight into the object a uniform distance from the outer surface, and then I'll do a 2mm filet around that edge.

Sorry for the "noob" question, appreciate the community support.

I would guess you would like the Fillets to move along with the reduction of thickness.  I removed 1 mm from the thickness in the areas indicated, then replaced the fillets.  Model attached.

@Warmingup1953 - Can you provide quick screen cap, or list of the steps. I see you used offset in Surface, but just selecting those faces on the body isn't doing anything on my end so I assume I'm missing a key step. Thank you.

Yes I simply did a Zero offset from the surfaces that you had highlighted, then I thickened that surface body symmetrically rather than to one side to create a tool body to use as a Cut. Did you download my file and tab through the Timeline?Screenshot 2025-04-18 082915.png

Thank you for the additional details. Yes, I did go through the history, however as I went through the timeline I seemed to skip a few details, so I missed the fact you had created a new body. For some reason on my side, after I initially perform the offset, it creates a shell of the whole model, even though I'm only selecting those 3 faces (while I'm in the Solid workspace). So then I had to re-select those 3 faces, invert the selection so that I could get that isolated part, and did the remaining steps as you outlined. This ultimately worked... though I'd love to figure out why I'm not just getting that small part during the initial offset.

Thanks again.

There is more than one Offset in Fusion just hit search "S" and type "O" and use the one called Offset and uncheck the Chain Box and add the three surfaces.Screenshot 2025-04-19 063919.png

Hi John, appreciate that you took the time to put together a solve. Just a heads up for some reason the version that you sent over didn't have the changes applied to it. It is also very possible that I'm missing something. I pick up F360 only a couple times a year and then have to re-learn half of it. Thanks again either way!
