Racing manifold and exhaust system for a new Ford motor (originally cross mount) into and old Ford (LOL, the forum won't let me say this) E s c o r t - sorry, don't know the names of these cars in US, these are the UK / Austrialasian names.
I have learned a lot doing this and really begining to like Fusion360, albeit different to what I am used to. Cheers Autodesk. It can do tube like this better than any other CAD I have tried - the joint function is very good for this type of work.
There are four cylinders to this engine. I can get everything to line up except for cylinder 4 which has an angular error (normally 8.4deg but I have seen it at 7.3deg) and I just cannot find what is causing this. All the bends are linked items - that is they are pre-made by an auto manufacturer using machines to quite exacting specifications. My poor old mate who has to cut and weld all these bends together has a real job in front of him so I am trying very hard to keep the angles in multiples of 15deg - nominally 45's 90's or 60/30's so he can jig something up to touch weld them together.
The basic shape of the cylinders as you see will remain, I just need now to tweek the total overall centre line radius/bridge lengths to get them to (I hope) within 50mm of each other. I thought initially that cylinder 2 would be the hardest however it turns out that cylinder 4 is going to be the one to dictate the achievable length and that is the very one I am having issue with.
Please, can somebody play with cylinder 4 and try to find out why I have an angular error between the last face of the last logical bend and first face of the 30deg/30deg offset bend going into the collector - see picture below. It has to be something really simple but for the life of figure out what it is...
