Hard time creating external threads on a cylinder

I've seen many posts about creating an external thread on a cylinder (please forgive if repeated again) but I am still confused. When I select the face to create a thread on, they are always placed inside. In my case it is a tube I want to put Acme threads on the external (outside) diameter but can't seem to get it to work. Any suggestions / instructions would be great.

Thanks

You should be able to just select the face on the outside of the cylinder for the thread tool.  if that isn't working for you then we'll need more to go on to give you an answer. (pic, model, screen cast etc.. )

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Even with thin wall no problems, neither with extrusion nor with pipe.

No, I haven’t figured it out yet. I haven’t saved a file.

sorry for not responding, I’ve been tied up with some other things.

This is what I’m trying to do but when I crest the threads, they are applied inside the cylinder instead of the outside face I selected.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

I’ll keep at it, I’m new to using F360 and modeling in general. I’ll update once I get it.

If you Attached your unexpected results file here your question would be answered within minutes - use your time efficiently.

The only thing I can think of (without the file) is that you are using Thread within the Hole command rather than the separate Thread tool.
