HALO Helmet modeling

Hi guys,

I am writing here to see if I can have some help with a project I am trying to tackle Smiley Happy and so I will also learn something new.

I would like to make the model of a HALO 4 helmet, but I'm finding some difficulties with Fusion360...

The model is this one

halo_4__odst_helmet_by_tekka_croe-d5kz3ic.jpg

It is a concept that I like, it's not an in-game model... anyway I found a pretty close model for the general shape but lacking a lot of details... that should not be a problem since I will add those details, the problem for me is that I would like to remodel the helmet so I will also learn how to make other helmets or masks. I think the best way would be the free form but I am struggling to have it done... do you have any suggestion?

The model I found is attached and I used it to have front, side and top view references.

Thanks for all the help.

Andrea.

The model you attached is a mesh model so it isn't compatible with the freeform sculpt environment (also called t-splines) in Fusion. If you can find a quad mesh version of the mesh model you have however, you can turn off the automatic triangulation on import and then use that within the sculpt environment.

Also note that there are some basic mesh editing functions you can use with the model you have if you are so inclined. Mesh editing is a preview feature, so to enable it, go to preferences->preview and check "mesh workspace". Then you can select it from workspace menu in the top left.

You could also just use the mesh model as a reference and build the t-spline bodies around it. General information on how to use t-splines is available here: http://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?learn=sculpt

Hi @andrea_cipri,

I would to add to @mstrater post. There is an exercise in the Autodesk Academy Design on how to create a Helmet. Here you go:

https://academy.autodesk.com/curriculum/f1-schools-helmet-design#asset-section

Good luck.

Cheers / Ben
