Half Lap on overlapping components

Attached is my design for a magazine holder.  I used a simple 2 x V shape sketch to get the correct design layout that I wanted and then combined/joined the 2 x V's. I would like to make a half lap joint (without having to try and redraw the sketches) as shown in the attached pic so that I can get accurate cut dimensions of the overlap cut-outs. Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

1. Hide ^Component 2

2. create a sketch > project the profile of ^Component 1 into

3. Hide V Component 12

4. Copy > paste new V Component 1 > NEW

5. Hide V Component 1

6. create cut outs 

7. create a midplane

8. mirror ^Component 2 & NEW
