grille pattern

anyone know how i can put a grille pattern on this?

i don't care if its slotted or a square pattern, its a grille for the intake and exhaust of my furnace, designed to keep bigger bugs and leaves out.

im still very new to designing things, so im sure there is something very simple im missing

Create a sketch on the face.  Draw a suitable pattern in the sketch.  The only requirement is the boundaries have to be closed (all line and curve endpoints meet).  Once you have a nice pattern in the sketch, Extrude it and Combine it with the frame.  Experiment with Circular and Rectangular patterns.

It's simpler to use 3D-pattern tool. No needs to trim bunch of lines. So, it can be easy adjustable in the future.

ill have to try this route, it seems a bit advanced for me, but ill mess around with it. thanks for the help!
