Hi, I need to get a 3D print of a gearbox. I downloaded Fusion 360. Is there an option that you can select the number of teeth needed and the the height and diameter? What should be my steps to design a gearbox?

A basic course in Engineering should suffice.

But honestly, what kind of gear box do you need ? What's the purpose of the gear box ? etc.

You could at least make an attempt to povide very minimum information.

Hello,

If you want  to help with Spur Gear models you can try ‘Spur Gear’ script from Add-ins. It generates simlpe model of spur gear.

The gear script that comes with Fusion produces very non standard gears, they are diametrical pitch and in centimeters and will not be very easy to work with. If you work in mm I've figured out to get gears using module divide the module by 25.4 then divide by 2.54. So if you want a 1.25 module gear with 10 teeth it's (25.4/1.25)/2.54 = 8. The gear generated will have an OD of 15mm and the pitch diameter will be 1.25x10.

Metric gears are quite easy to figure out, the pitch diameter is the gear module x the number of teeth so if you have 2 gears using a 2.5 module one with 15 teeth and one with 25 teeth the distance between gears will be (15+25)*2.5/2 = 50mm

Mark.
