Are there any tutorials on gear motion?

I am drawing a Wankel engine but having trouble getting the ring gear to rotate or walk the way it should around the Fixed Sun gear.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

What is your reference source for the number of teeth on the gears?

I guess that will work (same ratio), but you need to model the drive shaft (offset crank) to continue.

Are you tied to your design, or are you OK with starting over (see Attached pdf files)?

I did the gears with helical cut, but you can use straight spur gears.

I can start over if needed.

Number of gear teeth was chosen for ease of manufacture, as this will be actually built by myself.

Gear size is fixed within reason, i can go slightly larger if there is a need.

Updated design with eccentric shaft.

@kretallick144

Put all components at one level (no sub-assemblies) and no external references. (One *.f3d file, no *.f3z - for my convenience.)

16T spur gear should be Grounded at the Origin.

Bearing should be Grounded in position.

Revolution Joint the Crankshaft to the 16T spur gear.

Attach your *.f3d file here to verify progress.

I managed to get the eccentric shaft rotating.

There was no option in exporting in f3d  sorry.  Im not sure why, i checked the libary and no machine tools are selected as per research here.

Next you need to model the Rotor to hold the Ring Gear.

Done.  have added rotor to ring gear.

Many dimensions im using may need to change as design progresses.  But having the the rotating assembly is the hardest part.

Yes i am. last f3z was with rotor attached. This is where i am stuck, getting it to rotate around the sun gear.

I was expecting a *.f3d file rather than a *.f3z file (something like the Attached file).

This will cause a delay in my response as I had to take the time to do this portion.

I attached the *.f3d file for you.

When there is extra work - I am slower to respond - just keep bumping to the top, eventually I  (or someone here) will get around to responding.

Thankyou! I have the f3d file opened.

My next move would be to somehow fix the rotor to the ring gear, combine??
Then to somehow get it all rotating as it should.

Next thing I would do is create a Pitch Diameter - Extruded Surface Body cylinder in each of the two gears.

This will be for construction purposes - I would make semi-transparent and later the can be made invisible.

Imagine a cylinder rolling inside a cylinder. (Or in this case the outer cylinder rolling around fixed inner cylinder.)
