Hello,

 

I have what is probably an easy one.........

 

I am simply trying to get two gears spinning beside each other. ie......if one gear spins - then the other gear reacts and spins the other way.

 

I've sifted through online tutorials - but if anyone can hep me cut straight to the chase - that would be great!

 

All help appreciated.

You could try a contact set. The better method to do this, however, is a motion link.

Here's a little screencast showing the version with the Contact Set. I'll work on the other method while you try out this one.

Make sure your "parts" are components 😉

Here's the same thing with a motion link between the revolute joints that the gears are assembled with to the base plate.

That works great for equal sized gears. How do you make it work when there is a ratio between the gears? eg 1:4 16t driving a 64t. In my case both gears complete one revolution, instead 4 revolutions driving one revolution.

You just put the ratio in to the motion link. Demo file attached.

Edit. I just realised you can break that down to 1 to 2.5 and  1 to 1 for the small gears, wasn't thinking it through when I set it up the fist time.Smiley Embarassed
