Moved from Inventor Forum post: Reset crooked Front View

I see this is an older thread, however, it came up near the top in a Google search. Many of the described actions did not appear in the version of Fusion 360 that I am using as of 5/29/2018. I had a similar problem, I had an imported step (.step or . stp) file that was not square in any view and therefore was virtually impossible to get a decent 3 view orthographic drawing from.

What eventually worked for me was: to use the modify-align option. In the model tab, select the modify option:

model tab, modify optionmodel tab, modify option

next, select the align option (or alternately select the body you want to align and then align):

align optionalign option

the align dialog box will show up (select the body you want to align, then the face you want to orient, then what plane you want that face to align to, XY will be equivalent to the front view, XZ the top view, etc..)

Here is the tree view of the file: select the body, then the face (From), then the plane (To)

This should get you well on your way.

I didn't see this was for inventor, that explains a lot. This is what I used for Fusion 360.
