Fusion training Problems

I am doing the autodesk fusion 360 training on youtube. I downloaded all the samples and temlates i need and have made it to the fifth video 04 model part 1. On the portion of the instrctions to make the 24mm counterbore, when the instructor is in placement mode, his screen shows purple sketches and points to snap to. When i do the exact same thing, I do not get the same geometry to snap to. In fact the second comment on the video, the person is having the same problem as me. Any help would be great

Could you post a screencast t show where the problems are ?

The screencast tool is a free download from Autodesk and integrates nicely with Fusion 360.

Also, a link to which youtube video you are referencing would be helpful, especially so we can see the other comment that was posted with the same problem.

thanks.

Hopefully the link to the YouTube video will help. I don't have a microphone to guide through my issue

Thanks, @Anonymous, thanks for posting that.  I think I understand what happens with this tutorial.  I assume that the problem comes at about 4:11 in:

And, you are not seeing these points and curves, is that correct?  Those purple curves indicate that you have chosen the face of the part to sketch on.  So, you have to make sure that you click in an area that highlights that face.  If you look closely, the tutorial selects that face here:

You can tell by the white outline that the face is going to be selected.  However, if you are not careful, and you click in the wrong place, you can actually select the sketch that is in the middle of the model:

You can tell by the highlight that the sketch is selected.  So, to be sure that you get the face, just put the cursor somewhere where the highlight shows that the face will be selected.

Sorry, @Anonymous for the slow response.

I had forgotten one critical point here:  Fairly recently, Fusion changed the display to not show those purple edge geometries when you sketch on a face.  The geometry is there, it is just not drawn.  The reason was to make the sketch look "cleaner", though I have to say that I liked it better with the edge geometries being shown.

So, if you are sketching on that face, the curves and points are there, and you can snap to them.

Here is a short video showing how this works:
