Fusion shrinks Slicer 3D .stl file

Hi!

I'm trying to export a .stl object from Slicer 3D to Fusion. I used the "Insert mesh" on an empty file and checked that the measurements were set to millimetres (corresponding to Slicer 3D). However, the mesh volume in Fusion is about 38% of the volume it was in Slicer 3D where it was created. In my export, I had two other .stl objects as well. Their scaling was off as well, but not by the same factor. The distance and orientation between the three objects seem to have transfered intact. How do I rectify the scaling issue? Is my only option to scale the mesh to the correct volume?

@anne.nieminen

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Also Attach your mesh file(s).

@anne.nieminen

Q1. What are your intended Units? Inch? mm? Other?

Q2. The two stl files that you are attached are not of the same geometry that is in the *.f3d file that you attached (unless I missed something).  Do to a valid diagnosis the different file types must be of the same geometry.

OK, I did miss something - you had a third mesh.  Let me investigate.

@TheCADWhisperer I re-attached the mesh files, one of them got dropped as the maximum amount was three attachments(I missed this when I replied). There should be one f3d file and three mesh files. My intended units are millimetres. Thank you!

stl file is unitless

1cm=.39in

I am guessing this is a units conversion issue between programs.

Try this.

Start a new Fusion document set to inch units.

Import the mesh as cm units.

Change the Fusion document to mm units.

Do you get the expected size?

Oops, I did that backwards.

The difference between volume in the three meshes is different, one is 38%, another 16%. But I suspected this might be a conversio issue, so the best solution is probably to scale the mesh to the correct volume in Fusion. Thank you anyway!
