Fusion not working properly anymore

Hello,

After reinstalling windows, I cannot work in Fusion360 anymore. Once in the program, this is what I see.

After clicking once or twice on the main menu button (first on the left), the program eventually crashes and a crash report annoucements appears, promping me to send the report to Autodesk.

I have installed / uninstalled the software 3times, and nothing happens.

The program worked perfectly before I reinstalled windows (7, 64 bits). Working on an Asus K 53SV, with Gforce GT540M, 1Gb.

I have no similar problems with any other software.

Hope we can find a solution quickly.

Best regards,

Lucian

LucianCucu,

Welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to see that you are experiencing issues with your Fusion 360 Data Panel.

Can you tell us if you performed the clean portion of the steps documented in the link below?

How to do a clean un-install of Autodesk Fusion 360
http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-...

If not, can we please ask that you do this and let use now of your test results.

Thank you.

Hi LucianCucu,

To help diagnose this issue further, can I request you send us the application log files? From Fusion 360, you can access the Help menu ('?' icon, right next to the user name in the application toolbar area) and choose the 'Diagnostic Log Files' command. Please send me the resulting zip file either by attaching to this thread here, or emailing me directly at Saurabh.Akolkar@autodesk.com

If you are unable to run the program to execute the above step, can I request you to find the log files in the following locations and send them?

C:\Users\<windows user name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<Autodesk User Id>\Logs

C:\Users\<windows user name>AppData\Local\Autodesk\autodesk.webdeploy.streamer.log

The first item is a folder and second is a text file. If you could zip them up and send them to us, we might be able to spot what is leading to this behavior.

Saurabh

Hi again,

Is there any workaround that could make me avoid the data panel?

The program seems to work as long as I do not click on that button, I can also save, but however I cannot load previous models...

So while waiting for a fix, is there any solution without changing back to inventor ?

THanks guys,

Lucian

Hi Lucian,

Thanks for your patience. We believe the issue is related to a problem in a browser component we use for the dashboard with certain graphics card configurations https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=117371

You may be able to work around the issue by turning off Switchable Graphics - but this needs to be done in your computer's BIOS settings. When rebotting the computer you will have to enter the BIOS setup and find option that may look like:

Hybrid Graphics

Switchabel Graphics

Use Intel Graphics

and disable the option.

We are working to see how we can address this issue so such steps won't be necessary.

Hello you are not the only one having problems. I just reported my problems with MacBook Pro. It affected my tight production schedule now. A little disappointed with Fusion 360 after about two years using it since the beginning! Sorry Fusion team, I never said that before but this time I am really disappointed!

Hi accept my apology, I was a little frustrated with the program yesterday since two of my Mac's at two different locations using 100m and 200m direct connections one failed to update and one failed to open. Affecting my production schedule.  I had found that maybe 1 out of 5 times the program could not be started successfully and had to force quit or restarted if that could be done.

But I still use Fusion 360 because It got me started to design things for my clients after 5 years of asking designers to do this and that and living in fear because most of the time they could not delivered. Now I could design things that I wanted with Fusion and matched the production schedule better.  A little frustration is there sometimes, but it is still a program that i will use.  Thanks!

Hi again Saurabh,

Is it possible to download the previous version of fusion360, while waiting for a solution ?

This will really enable me to continue with my work...

Best,

Lucian

@Anonymous

Thank you for using Fusion 360,

At his time we do not have a mechanism that will allow you to roll back to an older version.

I know that development staff is working to resolve issues as fast as they can.

Those issues that are preventing user from accessing fusion tend to take the highest priority.

Thank you for your patience.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for the reply.

I would however greatly appreciate to - exceptionally - be granted an older Fusion version, hoping it is more stable on my computer.

I had to abandon Fusion 360 after this problem. I still hope you guys might find a fix, but I have not heard anything from you.

I am currently using another CAD program for my project, but if the issue is not fixed, I'll have to definitely abandon Fusion360, despite the good first impression I had from it.

Best,

Lucian

Ok it is FINALLY solved !!

My computer has 2 Graphic Boards (Optimus from nVidida). I reinstalled the drivers from BOTH boards and it finally worked.

Hope this will help other people.

Best,
