Hi,

I am wondering if you encountered this error while during the maintenance period which just ended?

If it was you should've been offline.

Can you tell me approxiamtely what time this was? Also, can you save a copy or use Save As successfully?

Was unaware of other save options. Have now binned out and since recreated the lost work. Yes it was during the maintenance period so this may have been the issue. I hadn't managed to 'go offline'

I have this same issue.  How do I keep my work?  I have not closed Fusion 360.  I thought it saved all data locally in the event the Fusion cloud was down.  Why isn't this made very obvious that there is a risk of loosing ALL DATA?   I got no warning whatsoever when "Maintenance" to the cloud was going to be performed.

seriously, I need my file to save. I already tried "Save-As" but that option is greyed out.  I don't think I like this cloud stuff one bit.  I can manage to keep my computer running when I need it to.  If a cloud is not up 100% of the time, then what point is there to it being a cloud?  THere is a little thing called "redundancy" in enterprise IT.  Maybe AutoDesk shoudl look into that.

Yes, I agree. Very frustrating that he error message presents as a small x in the corner making it totally missable. Maybe this is something the fusion team should be looking into along with slightly more helpful error messages!

As for me I ended up closing the app and starting again, luckily I save as I go along and my last successful save was actually only a few mins prior (despite the thumbnail not updating). I would try the "Save as" button, it may be greyed out until you make a 'change' to your model since your last save. Try that?

Failing that try clicking the 'go offline' button and saving again.

Hopefully someone from the fusion 360 team will offer a work around and a reason as to why this error appears to help avoid it in the future.

Hi EdChamberlain,

I am really sorry that you experienced this issue. When there is a maintenance window active, Fusion 360 is expected to go offline automatically and come back online automatically once that window expires. We would like to better understand why Fusion 360 did not go offline for you automatically. When you get a moment, would you mind reaching me at Saurabh.Akolkar@autodesk.com so we can better understand what your network configuration looks like and if that played a role in this.

I actually wanted to ammend my comment to rephrase my frustration into an actual suggestion, but there had apparently been a time limit.  I have since adapted to this behavior and the occasional crash by simply manually saving my work after any significant change, and at any major milestone I Export.  For me this is about every minute or so.  This leads me to speculate that perhaps there could be a way to add an auto-save feature to Fusion, with selectable save-point inntervals appearing as "Save every...

_1 Minute

_5 minutes

10 minutes

15 minutes

30 minutes

60 minutes

I can't imagine anyone would not want to auto-save enabled by default, with perhaps the option to disable auto-save for when a file is considered final and should no longer be altered.

Hi,

Fusion does offer the ability to set up an auto-save at whatever interval works for you.

Go to User Menu > Preferences to set this option.

Specifically "Automatic versioning" (which should be on by default) and the "Automatic versioning time interval" are the settings you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

This comes up sporadically for me as well.  What I think is happening is that there is a problem with my file and Fusion 360 is not giving me a warning about it, such as a lost profile reference.  My workaround is to move the Timeline to the beginning (or prior to any new changes) and save it from there.  After I close the file and re-open it, the warning properly appears for me to fix once I move the Timeline back to where I had it.  Hope this helps!  It was pretty scary not being able to save but it didn't make sense this wasn't happening to everyone at the same time.

I would also add, sometimes the warning doesn't come up when re-opening my file. In this case, I will systematically alternate between going backwards one step in the Timeline and attempting to save my file. Once I can save my file, I know I have just passed the step causing save failure and it needs editing or re-creating.
