Fusion 360 Update Issues

Hi,

We are having issues with updating Fusion 360 on our client devices. If I am correct it does minor updates every 2 weeks and major updates every 6 weeks. I'm sure it is all meant to update on it's own but it isn't. We have tried running the command in an elevated command prompt which forces the update. “Fusion 360 Client Downloader.exe” –g –p update. But this just seems to open up the program and not update. I want to avoid having to do a complete uninstall and re-install of this software as it isn't really a solution to the issue. The fact the software is out of date now means that the students can no longer open previously worked on documentation. I have attached a screenshot of the error.

Really hope you guys can help!

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks,

Harry

Hi Harry!

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community! It sounds like you are trying to update Autodesk Fusion 360 installed from a lab environment (global or all-user install), is that correct?

If so, could you try using the below command prompt to update the installation? Perhaps the issue is with the abbreviate command line parameters.

"Fusion 360 Client Downloader.exe" --globalinstall --process update

I've attached a pdf document. Another option would be to test a self contained package update by downloading the full installer and then running the update process this way (instead of using the streaming (client downloader).

Do the installation log files contain any errors about the update or the install? Is it possible to share those with us? Please let me know if there are any questions.

I am happy to help.

Thanks,
