Fusion 360 Unrecoverable exit code from extractor: -1073741831

Hi,
since a couple of days I can't visualize the Fusion 360 projects in BIM 360, it gives me this error (I have been using BIM 360 for a couple of years, now I am trying a trial version of Fusion 360 that I will definitely buy because it allows me to assemble the CAD).

Problem Fusion 360.png

The procedure with which I save the file is the one I've always done and until yesterday yesterday.
Can you help me solve this problem by courtesy?
Any suggestion and advice and good acceptance.
Thank you.

Hi @g.rivelli,

thanks for posting! I can see that the error actually appears over the thumbnails of linked designs. I have the following questions:

  1. Is the file password-protected?
  2. Does it contain links to any models?
  3. Are these linked models located in another project or protected by a password?

If so:

  1. Make sure you have the access to the projects containing all the linked files.
  2. Remove the passwords from the main assembly and any linked files.
  3. Upload new versions of the linked files / main assembly.

If this is not the case, the file may be corrupt. Could you send me a shared link to the assembly for further investigation?

Thanks!

Hello Pawel,

the files are not password protected, the components I was working on have assembled them in several files, but without creating a connection, in the sense that I insert the same file into various projects and use it to create assemblies (in my case they are systems of industrial closures). The individual components can be assembled together in various ways. Maybe I'm wrong about saving? It's been very little since I approached this new job and I'm not very practical, I hope it's some of my mistakes in the process and I hope to understand what it is.
I send you the link of some project, I hope I understood what to send you so you can investigate. Otherwise I apologize and if you can ask me what to send you to help me, I will immediately send you another link.

I thank you so much.
Best regards.

Hi @g.rivelli,

curiously enought, the file is not being sent to my email address. It may take a longer time, but it may also suggest that it's corrupt (which would also explain the error). Would it be possible to invite me (pawel.potyrala@autodesk.com) to the project the file is stored in?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @g.rivelli,

apologies for the late reply thank you for the invitation! The file ended up in my inbox as well eventually.

I can see that the file can actually be opened and viewed. The notification is only appearing within the "Related Data" tab. When re-uploading the the Hub (see the AUTODESK TECHNICAL SUPPORT FUSION 360 folder within the same project), no notification is produced, but the "Related Data" never finishes to load.

I reported this to our development team for further investigation. Are you actually expecting to see any related data within this section? Can you open the design despite the notification?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Pawel,

thanks again for the support!

In reality you can open the project in Fusion 360 and work it, make changes too, the problem arises, as you told me, when I want to display it in the folder, it loads only without opening. My main need is that the project can be viewed on my website, every CAD file I need to share it on my e-commerce portal, visualization is important and now I can't publish it.

I hope to hear from you soon.

I thank you so much,

best regards.

Hi @g.rivelli,

thanks for the clarification! I initially thought that the "Unrecoverable exit code from extractor: -1073741831" only appears within the "Related data" tab. To fully confirm it, does opening and viewing the design in the viewer result in the same notification or a blank/grey screen?

If so, I believe this may be related to the links to the STEP files. I updated our developers with my observations and managed to find the following workaround:

  1. Within the Fusion 360 Desktop App Data Panel, right-click on the original STEP file that should be inserted into the Fusion 360 Design
  2. Select "Create Fusion Design". This will turn the STEP file into a native Fusion 360 Design.
  3. Work on the native Fusion 360 Design. It will be viewed correctly on the BIM 360 Team viewer:

Design displayed within the viewerDesign displayed within the viewer

I opened a folder called AUTODESK SUPPORT FUSION 360 TEST within the project you invited me to and made a copy of one of your Fusion 360 designs. Please check if the file 1054-U0039-00000_asm_NATIVE works correctly for you.

Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Hi Pawel,
thanks for the support, I confirm that the file 1054-U0039-00000_asm_NATIVE works.
As for the question you asked me, the answer is yes, the files that I can't open in the BIM 360 viewer all give the same error, unless it always loads without giving any message, the strange thing is that until I worked the same way exactly the day before and there were no problems.
I did some tests with the procedure you explained to me, after a few failed attempts I could now view the file in BIM 360! I hope I have solved it and hope to learn better and better about using the program.
So I will always have to follow the procedure with Create Fusion Design, even if it slows down my work a little, because it takes time to load every single component.

I only have one last question. Can the files that I can't open in the BIM 360 viewer now not be able to view them? Do I have to redo them? I ask because clicking with the right mouse button does not give me the possibility to select "Create Fusion Design".

Thank you again for your availability, I was extremely helpful!
Best regards.

Hi @g.rivelli,

thanks for the reply! The workaround that should allow you to view the designs is as follows:

  1. Rather than uploading the STEP files you would like to use in your Fusion 360 Design via Fusion Team on the web browser, use the Upload button within the Fusion 360 Desktop Application. This will allow you to skip the "Create a Fusion Design" step.
  2. If the STEP files are already uploaded to Fusion Team and display with the *.stp/*.step extension within the Data Panel in Fusion 360, use the "Create a Fusion Design" option.
  3. The already created Fusion 360 designs containing links to STEP files that were not translated to Fusion 360 designs can be removed.

Note - your original workflow of inserting STEP files was correct and the steps above are just a workaround. I reported the issue to our development team so that they can investigate why the linked STEP files resulted in the "Unrecoverable exit code". Thanks for bringing our attention to that!

Hi Pawel,
I understood perfectly what steps to use to work, thank you very much!
At the moment I have all the files already loaded on BIm 360 on the web browser, so I'll use the "Create a Fusion design" option.
If it were to be restored, the original workflow for entering the STEP files will resume as I did before.

Thanks again for the support.
Best regards.
