fusion 360 sketching on plane inside of component

Hi gang, I'm a Inventor user for years at the school I taught at. So I tend to think in Inventor(ish) ways. I currently am trying to sketch on a plane I have offset inside of an existing component. Getting dimensions and geo-constraints to find the sketch has been less than successful...OK down right frustrating. I've tried "slice" and the red colored pattern is even worse for line/corner/projected surface or plane.

also where in the browser do I find "screen cast"?

Help?

Not sure what the question is there, can you elaborate?

screen cast no longer has an embedded start button in fusion.  Once installed, you can run it by pressing ctrl-f9

you can also put a picture right in your message which can make things a little smoother for everyone else.

Hi again...I make a new component by drawing and extruding a body or shape. Then I want the next sketched feature to be on a plane that I've made in the midpoint of the new body.  I find that sketches inside of the original body very hard to click on and execute dimensional control, or geometric constraints. The attached PDF to the original question is an example where even "slice" doesn't allow clean access to the end point of the sketch to control I even tried turning off visibility to the body leaving the sketch there to work on...still very poor performance on clicking on sketch entities for controlling the shape.

hope that is clearer...

Turning the visibility of the body off should allow you complete access to the sketch.  You can also select 'Look At' on the context menu in the Browser for a sketch.

Hi again...let's review I have 20 years of Inventor/SolidWorks/ProE-CREO I know what to expect. As we've all ready talked about I've turned off the body to see only the sketch and it's still will be iffy about grabbing the dimension request. Also "look at"  only brings the plane and sketch "normal" to you. The question is (and if it's a bug...here is your report) about inconsistent selection of sketch entities for dimension and/or geometric constraint control .

Also I find if you leave the body visible clicking through the body to a sketch on a plane inside of the body is nigh impossible. Even clicking on lines that make up the corners of a component to put fillets on seems to not work. So have I left some dialog box unchecked? Is this normal?

A screencast would help.

Yeah-A screen cast might be in order.  what it sounds like your describing isn't normal.  are you trying to do the same types as things as this screen cast?

Eureka! Project/Include was the missing step...now if I can only drill that into my muscle memory.  Now one last question if I may. To turn the viability of the components off or on in mass instead of clicking on one at a time? I've tried the classic Control Click/or Shift Click...no joy so far...thoughts?

thank you very much...

yes, project/include or project/intersect (like in the screen cast) are helpful.  there is a checkbox in preferences to project on reference, but I don't think that covers the intersection of a body. (I keep that unchecked, I prefer to manually project what I need.)

as I guess you found, clicking the eye doesn't show/hide multiple bodies or components.  after group selecting via shift or control keys, right click over one of the components and select show/hide from the call out menu (or press V).
