Fusion 360 import Inventor file with history?

Hi,

is there a way how to import Inventor IPT into Fusion even with part history? I know that there is a tool Find Features, but that is not exactly always perfect. And Inventor and Fusion are both Autodesk CAD products, so I did not dint any info about it, but I'm trying it here, maybe I just missed something 🙂

And I mean, the possibility to have sketches, work planes, etc...

Thank you and have a nice day,

Matt

Hi @Ezekiel12,

Unfortunately, it's not do that yet. When you import a file, which is not a Fusion native file, the components will be imported as solids. But you can still edit them in Direct mode.

Watch this: http://au.autodesk.com/au-online/classes-on-demand/class-catalog/2016/fusion-360/pd16277#chapter=0

Cheers / Ben

Nope, unlikely to happen cause each software has their own way of doing things, even though both softwares are from AD, they don't share the same code base. In Inventor there's AnyCAD which sorta solves different file format interoperability and I expect that we will see similar feature some unknown time in the future. Though don't put your hopes on it yet cause Fusion now has a huge backlog on needed features to be implemented/improved.

If I may ask, what are you doing now and such with Inventor and Fusion? I may be able to offer some workflow suggestions

@gerrit36NS2 You can import inventor files but they will not have the history tree, the will be dumb solids just like importing a STP, IGS etc.
