Fusion 360 Exporting Improvements Suggestions for CGI Industry

Hello.

I am an 3D Hardsurface Artist, I have some suggestions to improve working pipeline. If Autodesk will implement these features, especially movie and game artists will use better and rapidly this software, because all Fusion artists needs these features in workflow. Especially hard surface artists in the CGI industry have started to use Fusion 360 frequently for a while and the number of users is increasing day by day, I think Fusion 360 will offer a great attraction for these users with the features I recommend.

Briefly, if we could see these features it will be amazing:

For exporting ( OBJ ) - ( FBX ) ;

1- Refinement Options like STL mesh exporter for optimising mesh geometry.

2- Quad and Triangle Mixed topology (not just triangulated model like now)

3- Export with UVs

4- Export with smoothing groups (normal groups)

Fusion 360 includes all this features in different ares but we can't use in same application area, this is the matter.

- Current FBX exporter includes UVs and Normal groups
- Current STL mesh exporter includes mesh geometry refinement options.
- Current Mesh Tesselate tool is producing quad and triangle mesh very good

but we can't use all of these in one point.

We just need exported model that have got these specs: Quad and Triangle mixed topology with UVs, Normal groups and should have the refined geometry we specified.

Thanks for all...

Can you demonstrate how Fusion 360 exports a quad mesh ?

To my knowledge that is only possible when you export the control cage of a T-Spline and obviously It's only going to be a quad mesh if I was modeled that way.

In general I support your suggestions. The export options are limited and don't offer a lot of options for refinement. That would be useful not only for the GGI industry bt for anyone who want to render a Fusion 360 modern in an external render engine.

The Fusion 360 builtin renders engine is nice all quite limited in some areas.

I routinely export .fbx for rendering. I find the out the box settings really good most of the time, but occasionally I will use FreeCads mesh converter if I need a 'low poly' mesh.

Once or twice I have gotten duplicate vertices from .fbx export from Fusion, but most of the times it's spot on.

What would also be great is if the .fbx/stl exporter was as fast as the .step exporter. The speed of step exports still blows my mind!
