Hi everyone,

I have a question and I really cant find the answer to it! To be honest I think its in part because im not able to put the question into words correctly, but lets have a try!

I have a drawing in which I would like to shorten the dimension lines to make the drawing a bit easier to read, and I cant seem to figure out how, aldo I think the solution would be easy. I added an example of how it looks now and how I would want it to look down here (I used paint for this...)

I do not know of any way to write it normally at this time.

However, there is a way if you just want it to look that way.

Use edge extensions to draw edges like this.

Write the dimensions here.

Deletes edges written with edge extensions.

Then adjust the dimension line. An alert is issued, but the desired dimension line is obtained.

The alerts are disturbing, but I feel this is the only way to go at this point.

If there is another way I would like to know too.

Hi @pepijnham

I believe the cause of your issue is that you're using the left side of the model to create your dimensions in the drawing, which is why the dimension lines are overlapping the model. I've attached a video demonstrating a better way to dimension your model. Your best choice in this instance would be the "Linear Dimension" tool and choosing the points on the same side that you want the dimensions to display.
