Forum User Level not increasing...

Just curious about the Forum User Level. Mine does not seem to be increasing. For the entire month its remained static. I've made several post's been fairly active. I've received several kudos and nothing is changing it.

Perhaps Autodesk dramatically change the points system that determines levels?

Thank you for any replies.

@RandyKopf - it is my understanding that it gets progressively more difficult to progress to the next level with each increase, and there are a number of requirements for each level progression.  For example, one of the requirements in the formula might be a set number of comments to reach level 9 (say, 250 or 300), so even though you might have surpassed solutions, ideas, page views, solutions, etc., you would need to hit the comment requirement to progress.  Because of this you will see less 8's than 7's, less 11's than 10's, and so on.  From what I can tell you're incredibly close to progressing to 9, but then moving to 10 will take longer due to it not being a linear process.

@JDMather - ohhh the Tesla.  I can't recall, what did Carl or Amar say about that at AU? Smiley Happy

@RandyKopf - Might also be worth sharing your feedback about our ranking system on the Community Feedback board here.  Good place to see if others feel the same way and discuss some possible solutions.

Brian if what your saying is accurate then the system is still borked because the progression circle does not advance to show incremental progress from 8.0 to 9.0

While you say I might be so close to a 9 the system has shown me at a 8.6 perpetually for months. And I simply don't care anymore.

The history of this thread shows you and I having this dialog months back and I had lots of interaction since. But It doesn't really matter to me anymore.

I am curious - where do you get this information of 8.6?  I only see whole number rankings.

Well that may be the problem...What  I inferred is likely incorrect. That is I thought the circle around your rank filled up as you progress from each level.

But after looking at different forums all level 8's show the exact icon. So that would explain why I never see any actual change in my activity as it will only change if I hit level 9.

@RandyKopf - yes, you are correct in that the icon itself does not actively show progression.  Completely understand that we've lost your interest, but just wanted to say I appreciate the time you did spend on the boards helping others.

Naturally, I used Fusion to do an analysis of the rank badges (see attached file).

You guys have problems, really!

I've posted here for almost 2 years with over 4000 posts and I believe over 300 solutions at the time I received the Mentor badge.

The scale is clearly not linear and that makes a lot of sense to me!

Here's a picture from my profile a while back Level 9, Kudos 1073, Solutions 417 not sure how many posts. I'm not sure how the system works because there are some with a higher level but with lower kudos and solutions than that.

@brianrepp - I don't think the above written is true. Sorry to say because I have seen people with very fewer posts, kudos and solutions with rank 8. They could have achieved those ranks when the system was active. But if the rank system consider the time period you have joined the community, then I could be wrong. Because I am new member of the community and it has only been 2 months since I joined. Please confirm that the community ranking system still works. Because even though there are no rewards regarding this it would be nice to see yourself in a top rank after 10 years.

Because of this you will see less 8's than 7's

I see more 8's than 7's 🙂

Cheers,

Hey @Vinayv4v - Vinay I really appreciate the passion around the topic!  I can definitely confirm the system is working as expected, but there is always room for improvement.  Earlier in the thread I shared a link to our Community Feedback forum and think this would be a great discussion for anyone interested to start there, and hear from the broader Autodesk community (all of the Autodesk forums use the same ranking system).  There are a number of requirements for each stage, but what those requirements are for, and the actual targets vary from level to level.  Time is a factor, but it will not give someone with, say, 50 posts and 3 solutions a bump to level 12 solely based on being registered for 10 years - they would need to meet the other requirements for a level 12.  Again, the system is definitely not perfect, but hope it's not too bothersome to detract from your participation!

Maybe just a progress bar or percentage without any quantative data for that rank, only visable to you, just to show something is happening as ocassionally I my posts go up and down, the same for my likes

Another data point for this meaningless distraction.   Hit Rank 10 with post on 10-10-2018  11:02 AM; first post 05-02-2017 01:30 PM- so, a little over 17 months.    I liked the light green Rank better- just seems more hopeful and positive than orange.

By contrast another user ranked at 9 with far better stats- but a first post date just less than a month later, on 06-01-2017 12:04 PM:

7 - right next to your name; hover over your name for stats.    As discussed above, 8 features the best colour- really, the only aspect of this system to look forward to; otherwise, it's just a mix of timer, social, and knowledge guesstimator.

I understand why Autodesk must keep the rank system a black box of sorts but some info into what increases your rank and whether there are certain factors with a higher weighting as time definitely plays a part with some people hitting rank 11 with worse stats than a rank 9

Another thing I noticed with rank 8 is that it takes around 100 'points' on your account be it from solution, likes, ideas and posts however I suspect solutions have a higher weighting
