Forum User Level not increasing...

Just curious about the Forum User Level. Mine does not seem to be increasing. For the entire month its remained static. I've made several post's been fairly active. I've received several kudos and nothing is changing it.

Perhaps Autodesk dramatically change the points system that determines levels?

Thank you for any replies.

You get to level 8 fairly quickly but after that it gets progressively harder.

I just recently got to level 11 😉

Hey Randy - thanks for the post (I also got your PM earlier today).  I'm going to ask for some help from one of my colleagues who has a bit better understanding of the ranking system, as it's a bit of a black box 🙂

@TrippyLighting

Thanks for the reply. I would just expect after at least 10 kudos' I'd see at least a slight change.

I have 987 kudos and I am only a level 9, you have 27 at level 8....based on that you have a long ways to go before level 9. Smiley Wink

@RandyKopf Just to give you another data point, I'm at 40 Kudos and 13 solutions and am still at level 8. I do have 20 fewer posts than you though.

I believe there is a time component to it as well.  I am at a 10 with only around 350.  But I have had an autodesk account for quiet a while.

All of the factors mentioned here have an impact, along with how long you have been a member, number of posts, kudos and solutions.

Also, found this good post on community ranks from Phil here.

Hi,

 1.JPG

For the past 2 months I am on Level 7. Is there a way to see if my rank is increasing or not.

Cheers,

Yeah, don't worry too much about the forum level, it's not like you'll be awarded mod status or anything 🙂

@Vinayv4v - there isn't a way to see your progress towards the next rank.  Not sure if you saw it, but I posted a link to a thread with some more detail around ranks here.

@Vinayv4v I think the system is broken. I spent about 3 months making extensive posts and made solutions and got lots of kudo's to zero change in my rank.

@brianrepp As far as I'm concerned the system offers zero reward for participation. So I found other interests. Sorry but seriously the level system was nice when it did work, however IT IS BROKEN. Like a year ago. I spent less effort and got to a 8.6 and it has forever been stuck there. It does not work end of story. And all the arguments that it does had zero effect on my level status for the past 6 months.

How would you fix the system?

What would be your ranking formula and rewards?

@JDMather

The system is well designed already. It simply is now borked. And is not adding any tangible credit for adequate participation. Autodesk messed with the credit attribution behind the scenes.

Like I said for less participation I got to 8.6 then I've had hundreds of posts and participation with zero and I mean absolute zero change in increase. even 8.7 would show something.

Either people were nuked off the database for addition or something. But it is truly broken. I am a reasonable person and don't expect anything for free. The inverse is also true,  I don't expect to provide extensive help for free.

I'm new for this forum. Posting here just for 45 days only. Also got rank 8 in a week or so and then stuck. Robot Indifferent

@Anonymous That would correlate with my experience as well. It's as though there is a hidden wall where you will not ascend. They select their expert elites and everyone else is hosed.

I like the forums regardless of the rank system. When true information is shared it's great. But your participation and offer to help others is not reciprocated back in a way that reflects any merited respect to you. 🙂
