Flat Pattern is showing outside/perimeter profile

I have traced a Canvas with a fit point spline. Created a mirror of the half with a construction line and then flanged to 1/8" sheet metal. When I create a flat pattern of the face, it produces a flat pattern of the side profile.

I have had this issue before and found it to be an unclosed point, extra line, etc. I have also worked around this before by copying the sketch, pasting it onto a bigger surface that is already flanged, and then negatively extruding the surrounding material. Also, creating a flat pattern from the backside has resolved this issue before. None of these options has worked for me on this one. I did this process with another drawing and it was successful. I am unsure on what to do as I have spent hours and multiple variations of the drawing that all come out to the same wrong flat pattern.

Your model, which will create the Flat Pattern facing you, is attached.  You created the sketch on the X-Z Plane forcing the flat pattern to that plane.  I redefine your sketch to the X-Y plane so the flat pattern is created there.  Your original is fine except you probably prefer to view it from the top of the X-Y plane,
