Fit curve to Mesh Section - Can't Select Curves

There is a video by Autodesk Fusion 360 called "QUICK TIP: Mesh to Solid" that shows how to fit a curve to a mesh section.  At about 3:18 into the video, the new lines created by Fit Curve to Mesh Section, the video shows these being selected. Then once they are selected, points are dropped along these line.

However, this does not work now or has changed. I saw where the Fit Curve to Mesh Section feature was moved in a newer update but the lines are simply not able to be selected now or I don't know how to follow along like in this video.

How am I able to select these?

you have to be editing the sketch where the mesh section lives.  Are you in that sketch?  Can you record a video of what you are seeing, and maybe share the model here?

I captured the time stamp in the Fusion 360 video I described above. What I am trying to do starts here.  The problem is, the selections are not available in the menu now like they are in this video. But, I am trying to do the exact same thing. I have also attached the STL file that I am working with. 

Where is the Fit Mesh Section Curves (see below) ? I don't see that under the Mesh tab.

I meant a video of your session, but I think I see the issue now.  You are saying you don't see "Create Mesh Section" in the dropdown at all?  Then, you have to make sure that the "Mesh Preview" is turned on:

No, I already turned on the Mesh Workspace. If you look at my picture above, you can see that I can select SOLID tab, Click down arrow, Create Mesh Section Sketch. I am then able to begin selecting places to Create Mesh Section Sketch. Like this - 

There are no issues selecting various spot. However, once I finish creating the section sketch, Fit Curve to Mesh Section is then selected in the video. But, there is no Fit Curve to Mesh Section under the Solid tab anymore.

I did manage to find it after creating a sketch and clicking the drop-down menu. BUT, I am not able to select the lines like in the video.

But the lines are not able to be selected  like below, so I can't use the LOFT feature to form a new sketch from the face of the STL - 

If you use the STL I attached, try to do the same operation as in the video. That is the issue I am having. The version has changed and trying to do this operation seems broken, or moved. If you figure it out, can you post the steps or a quick screencast?

Double click one of the mesh sketches then you'll find the 'Fit Curve to Mesh Section' in the sketch menu. Now you're editing the mesh sketch you should be able to select the mesh section geometry.

OK, now we are getting somewhere.  Create Mesh Section, just creates a new sketch.  You have to edit that sketch to be able to fit curves to the mesh section that lives inside of that sketch:

That will select it but as soon as to try to use the Fit Curves to Mesh Section menu, it un-selects the line. Can someone try to use my STL I attached and follow that section in the video? You'll see exactly what I mean. It starts in the link I provided above at the exact start.

Sorry, didn't have time to do a screencast as I was cooking dinner at the time, but I think you can see what I was saying now you've seen @jeff_strater 's screencast. The only difference is that he right-clicked to get into editing mode.

Anyway, glad you got there in the end!

I have exactly the same problem. I cannot select the curves!

I can only select a sketch plan and that creates the faces somewhere else and all on top of each other. please see the video.

the solution is the same:  you have to edit the sketch that contains the mesh section before you can fit curves to it.  So, right click on the sketch in either the browser or the timeline, and choose "Edit Sketch".  Then, you will be able to fit curves for that section.

You should double click one of the curves from the browser tree, not from the design space which is impossible to double click.

when double clicked on the sketch here:

I was then able to select the "closed curve" and create a fit curve

the interesting fact is that even then it doesn't show it is selected.

it is also interesting that in the older versions of fusion 360 this seems to be easier.

but anyway, it worked and I was able to create a loft.
