Find SHX fonts in list

Is there some way to filter or more easily find the shx fonts in the list of fonts in the text command dialog window?

Be great if there was some type of filter to maybe limit the list to ONLY that type of font.

Is there a list somewhere of all the standard shx fonts so I can find them quickly in the list?

___

In a related question, using the shx fonts works great for use in the mfg workspace. But is there a good method (or best practice) for having them modeled? This way they show in assembly drawings and the like...

You will find all the SHX fonts installed on your system for Fusion 360 listed at the top of the Font list.  I show this in the Screencast.  You can also check to see which SHX fonts are installed for use in Fusion 360 by going to this Forum post and reading message 2.  If you read the full post, you will see you can add SHX fonts to this list.

I do not know how to answer your last "by the way" question.

Thank you sir!

Glad to see they are separated from the others in a group.

Hopefully someone answers the other part of my question. If they don't somewhat soon, I'll mark this as the accepted answer and post a new thread for the other question.

I gave your "by the way" question a bit of thought and came up with one idea, use Thin Extrude to create solids from the monotext.  I did some experimenting and some fonts work in their native state but you have to Explode others and some do not work at all.  I had the best success selecting the profile instead of using a Window selection method.  Model is attached I used in the Screencast.

That seems to work great!

A minor issue (and maybe one I need to live with for now), is that as soon as you explode that text, the sketch loses its fully constrained status. Anything I can do about that?

Update: Exploding the text seems to have broken the ability to select that text via the Trace command in the mfg workspace.

I put the same text just above where I want as a test, and using the same simplex font, I can easily select and run that as a trace to accomplish the engraving. Guess I'll explore the engraving command a bit, but I don't like it as much as Trace.

Hi,

1. single line fonts always need to be converted to paths in order to use them for the trace tool.
2. Engraving is not possible with single line fonts but works  between 2 line elements.

I myself, do not have any issues with exploded SHX fonts and the Manufacturing Trace Command so you can see in the Screencast.  I selected the text using the model sketch but I also do not have any issues if I simply select it a letter at a time, it just takes a lot longer especially with the "S".

Thanks @jhackney1972 , selecting the sketch in the browser tree did the trick. Where I couldn't select it properly was by clicking on it in the viewing area.

I did have to go back and change my projected lines to construction so that they didn't also trace, but after that it worked like a charm!

Once again, thanks for all your help with this!!

@g-andresen Thanks for the tips, I copy/pasted these into this post along with my own comments. Per my post above, I did get this working, so this is all just for knowledge at this point...

1. single line fonts always need to be converted to paths in order to use them for the trace tool.

Little confused by this one. When placing my test version (non exploded simplex), I was able to easily just select the text by using the trace command/dialog. It was the exploded simplex that I couldn't select (solved in post above by selecting the entire sketch via browser tree) What did you mean by "converted to paths"?

2. Engraving is not possible with single line fonts but works  between 2 line elements.

Yeah, it is mostly why I don't care as much for the engrave function. Don't get me wrong, it certainly has its place, just for my usage it usually seems the less optimal. I would guess its best use is when you want fancier text, rather than quick, serviceable, text. And probably other engraving things as well, but mostly I am only concerned about the basic text being engraved into a part, so I am probably not coming across the best use case for the "engrave" command. Does that seem correct?
