Filling up hole in this surface

Hello,

I am working on an stl found on thingiverse. It basically is a phone case. It has a text on it, which is like a hole in the case. I'd like to remove it. So, patched the surface and extruded that. Now I have a surface and a solid. Besides the fact that I have not understood how to make the surface a solid, I'd like to merge those two in order to fill the hole. Here is the screenshot of my situation:

As you can see, I have two surfaces (the whole case and the patch) and the extrusion.

Hi,

1. if you create a public link, do not forget to allow the download.

2. otherwise take this way:

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post.
