Fillet strange behaviour

Hi guys,

I've noticed this fillet issue when working on this object.

When filleting these edges, there is a small discrepancy in them that is not very noticeable at first, but becomes more and more obvious the higher the fillet radius goes.

Any ideas?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for sharing the model, I can reproduce now.

I will report this as a issue and this bug will be fixed soon.

There is a workaround to overcome this bug by applying fillet twice, Please find the model: http://a360.co/2fiaBEc

Hi Tommy,

The difference in behaviour you're seeing is down to the order in which the edges were selected for filleting, the different results are more obvious with large radii like in your example. So this behaviour is somewhat expected.

I say 'somewhat' because I spotted an inconsistency when I was consistent with the order I selected the edges. We'll get that ironed out but in the meantime I'll suggest creating a different fillet feature for the different type of fillets (images below). I know this is a bit of a pain but it should allow you to continue with your work.

1. Additive fillets:

    1-additive-first.PNG

2. Subtractive fillets:

    1-subtractive-next.PNG

Note - you'll get a different result if you do the two operations above the other way round (i.e. subtractive first, additive second):

2-subtractive-first-additive-next.PNG

Hope this helps explain the differences, please shout out if not!
