fill a void between bodies, thus creating a new component

This model has 3 components (and only 3 bodies).

I want to create a 4th component that fills the void shown below by the red squiggle:

When I try the boundary fill, it seems like it won't let me select the upper cylinder part. Model attached.

How can I create that new component to fill the red squiggly void?

Thanks!

I tried boundary fill and it worked. Maybe it's a bug? 🤔

Hi @brooknorton1,

Thanks for posting to Fusion 360 Forum,

I did try on your model with the Fill Boundary tool.

Wow. I learned a lot. Thanks. Since the new component fills a completely surrounded void, is there no way to directly just point to the void and say fill it; without first, as you did, create a larger body and then trim it down to size?

@brooknorton1  Indeed it is possible to simply use boundary fill, as you can see below. I have only opened your file, captured history and used boundary fill. What exactly happens when you try to use boundary fill?

(I get an error while trying to insert the screencast, so here is the link to it:)

Thanks for your video. You guys are amazing for the help. There is something glitchy about the way 2 parts fit together, sometimes showing minor interference, and sometimes not. I tried again and got it to work as you illustrated (and as I first tried to do). Thanks much.
