Favorite materials folder not synced

Hi guys

I use A360 most often on my laptop, but sometimes on a more powerful desktop computer for rendering.

One issue that I have is that the "Favorites" library in the appearance settings seems to be saved locally on whichever computer I use and not on my account.

Ideally I'd define a custom material on either machine and be able to easily find it in my favorite folder from anywhere.

I feel like a this universality of account settings would a be logical consequence of the awesome cloud-based structure that A360 has (or maybe I'm just being stupid and missing something obvious).

Does anyone else have experience with this kind of inconvinience or maybe a solution?

Hi David,

Are you talking about the Rendering service? If so, let me know and I'll move your post to the rendering forum.

Thanks for getting us more details.

Hi Bud,

I'm not entirely sure, the appearance menu can also be accessed during modeling and other parts of Fusion, altough it's use is predominantly during rendering.

Hi @Anonymous,

You are not crazy, currently the favourites folder doesn't follow you from machine to machine like it should.

That will be fixed in the May release.

Why just the Favorites folder? Why not any custom materials?
I have the same issue, only I use Simulation - set up on my laptop, run analysis on desktop.

Glad to see it will be addressed in the May release (tonight ... ?) But it would be nice to include all custom materials, not just favorites.

Hi @Anonymous,

As it is in the current workflow - you add customized materials to your favourites folder.  Today the favourites folder is only held locally.

There is a redesign being worked on so that there will be a custom folder that will be synchronized to the cloud.  You will be able to mark "favourite" materials in that folder for easy retrieval.

We are working under the assumption that not all altered materials are worth keeping.  In the future we want to provide funtionality to allow you to make a custom set of materials that could be shared out to a project for others to use.

Hope that helps.

Colin

Is there a way to share the Favorite materials list or the materials in it? I also have a custom list that I need to use on 2 other computers.

dcation: Favorites aren't synced between computers but "My Appearance" tab is.

Here's a screenshot of how to add appearances:Add Appearance to My Appearance.JPG
