Failed to merge surfaces (pipe surfaces)

Hi,

I am trying to get rid of the face lines on a pipe design. I created the pipe by using the pipe function on a sketch line. I tried merging faces under surface but it gave me the error "Failed to merge surfaces". Is there a way to create this without those face lines?

Hi @Anonymous,

If it is only for visibility you can press Ctrl.+4 to make all shaded.

Those edges are tangent edges and can't be deleted.

Loft might work but you'll need the centre line path and circular sketches both ends. Just did a quick test on a 2d profile and got a single surface, don't know if it'll work with your more complex shape.

One more note, you can't create a hollow loft so you'll need 2 lofts or loft and shell.

why do you need this to be a single face?  It might be possible, but I'm not sure I understand why this is important.  Most CAD designs are composed of multiple faces, and as long as they are tangent continuous, I can't see any benefit to one face over many.

Hi,

The reason for this is that I'm planning on running a CFD on this design and having a single face simplify the creation of interferences between fluids.
