Face Fillet

Inventor has the option to fillet by selectinig faces.  I can't see this option in fusion. Am I missing something?

Some you tube videos talk about 'Rule Fillet'.  But this option is not available in my modify menu.  Has it been removed?

Thanks.

Hi Ben, be sure you're in the Model environment, and not another like Patch.

Thank you for the reply.

I noticed it comes back when I start a new model, but on a model i built in inventor and imported in, the function is not there.

Hello,

Cad files imported via Upload dialog which comes from other than Fusion360 (for instance Inventor) are not imported as parametrical designs thus you can not see Rule Fillet feature in your toolbar

But switching in to parametric modeling (please follow attached screenshot) Rule Fillet will be accessible again.

Excellent thank you.

However the tool doesnt do what I thought it would do.

Inventor has a face fillet option, as well as an edge fillet option.  Is there a face fillet option in fusion?

Hello Benjones560,

Can you please explain why Fusion 360 rule fillet does not work the way you thought it would?  We created rule fillet to behave parametrically, so if a prior sketch that drives the face is changed all associated eges will be fillet-ed.  For clarification we no do have a specific face fillet tool.  If there are features like this that will create workflows to help you design please submit them to our idea station.  Here is a link to an idea request for the feature you are asking for.  If you feel this idea meets your needs please like the idea.

Hi Mike,

In inventor, you can select two faces of a model and enter a radius for the fillet. That is what I'm trying to reproduce in fusion.

Can you describe how this is different from selecting the edge that forms the intersection between the two faces in Fusion? I'm familiar with a face fillet option in other CAD systems that applies a fillet to all edges of a given face, but that does not sound like what you are describing.

HI Ben,

Mike is traveling today so I thought I'd chime in to avoid any delay getting an answer to you.  Today face fillet is not supported in Fusion.  To Rons point, is there a particular result you're trying to achieve that the edge fillet is not giving you?  I'd like to understand more what you are trying to do or why face fillet is important in your workflows.

please advise.

hope this helps,

Thank you for confirming that face fillet is not supported.  There are situations that arise that require a face fillet.  Some times as a work around to fillet edges that fail with a normal fillet.  Sometimes when a situation like the attached model arrises.

After all, if there was never a need for face fillet inventor wouldn't offer this s a function.

I’m still unclear- it seems as if the only difference is the method of selection, not results. In your examples, using the Push-Pull tool in Fusion it would be necessary to select all the edges (except those part of a tangent chain) individually, then enter the value for the fillet. Though once you have established a fillet feature, it’s only necessary to select one edge to edit the value.

Selecting a face would be a little faster- maybe a lot faster on a complex shape with many individual edges. That might be a good suggestion for the idea station. But unless I’m missing something Fusion gets the same results, just with more clicks.

I am also looking for a face fillet. In other CAD programs, a face fillet would allow you fillet two faces that may not be touching but are joined by a small face. I have a model where two faces come nearly tangent to each other, but are intersected by a small patch between the two. I want a full round that eliminates the small patch. A face to face fillet would be a robust solution because I could make any size fillet between the two face and the small patch gets deleted? Make sense? Is that possible?
