Extrude Taper Angle of Complex Shape

I'm trying to preform a tapered extrude on a SVG imported from Illustrator however I get two errors every time.  I've tried both methods shown in the post "Why does tapering extrusion not work for text?" with the same results. My over all goal is to cut a positive (peg) and negative (hole) of the same shape with a 5degree tapper so I can mate them together. If anyone knows if I'm going about this the wrong way or if there is some kind of limitation on the software I would appriceate their input.

Are you able to successfully extrude this profile without any taper?  There are many reports of problems with SVG imports re. the integrity of the resulting sketch, particularly with splines. If it can't be extruded at all you might want to re-create the sketch inside Fusion.

Ron,

 

I can do a regular extrude without any problem.  I first tried this whole project by doing a normal extrude (no taper) with a simple contour and pocket cam operation using a tapered mill (mcmaster 8946A67) however the two halves do not fit together very well. 

 

I've attached the svg if that helps.

Have you looked a using the Engrave op with a chamfer cutter, you don't need to taper the extrusion you just select the edge.

I will order a chamfer bit and give this a try.  How would I cut the positive version of this?

The Engrave op only works in pockets so you need to model a boarder, you can make the boarder bigger than the part you're machining so you're left with just the embossed logo.

Roughing the pocket is not as easy as it should be. You should be able to select the profile at the top level and specify an angle for the sides of the pocket in the Multiple Depths section of the op but there's a bug so you need to workout the offset the angle needs. For the 30° per side 3mm deep in the example I've attached I've used 1.75mm for radial stock.

I figured out how to do this without the workaround. There is no bug you just need to make the correct selections on the heights tab, for Top Height set to selected contours, for Bottom Height set to Top Height and the Offset to the pocket depth.
