Extrude Hole – No target body found to cut or intersects

I am trying to follow the tutorial, extruding holes through a body. As instructed I have set up construction line of axis and radius and centered a hole on their point of intersection.

When I say OK to the Extrude dialogue box the following message is given and no hole is created:

* No target body found to cut or intersects

Please tell me, what am I doing wrong?

Also try breaking the link on the component in the browser- not sure why it works but it does.

@Anonymous - 2 things

first-what in the world are you replying to?  Your answer seems totally nonsensical since nothing in this thread from 2015 has linked components.

second-any attempts to "edit"  linked component will of course start working after you break the link.  That's how they work.   If you want to edit a linked component without breaking the link, you have to edit the original model the component is linked from.

I had the same problem. I wanted Fusion 360 to make holes in two bodies. They only appeared in one of them.

It turns out the deprived body was unselected in the 'Objects To Cut' section of the hole editor.

Why it was unselected, I don't know.

So that is something to verify.

Are you trying to modified an already existed obj or stl file? If yes then you have to convert the object to Brep file by tapping Modify-Mesh-Mesh to Brep. Afterward the file will be able to edited and you can put holes to your object.

I have this conclusion after several hours of trial and error but it's worth trying tho 🙂  .

I fixed this by changing the distance to a negative number so it wasn’t trying to cut above the model.

Scratch that, it worked once and didn’t work on a different hole.
