Exporting Points in DXF

I have a simple task that I cannot seem to complete using Fusion. I need to export simple "tool paths" in DXF format to work with an automated dispense machine.  The import software for this machine uses DXF drawings.  I can create the paths and points I want in a Fusion Sketch and then do a DXF export.  All is good with the exception that "points" I have placed in my sketch are not included in my DXF.  How do I include "points"?

Screen shot of my sketch and the resultant DXF attached.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting! It looks like you are trying to export a sketch containing points created in Fusion 360 as .DXF file.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get Fusion 360 to properly export points to the .DXF file format. I did, however, notice that I was able to get the resulting .DXF file to include sketched points when drawing in AutoCAD and AutoCAD 360. If you do not have the full AutoCAD program, AutoCAD 360 can be downloaded as a free trial at this link.

Hopefully this solves your issue! If it does not, please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot - I'm happy to help.

Thanks,

Hi All,

Has there been any progress on above mentioned issue since that time? Fusion still seems to be unable to export sketch points to DXF format. If you have any other ideas or workarounds that would be great.

Thanks in advance for your response

No fix from Autodesk.  I wound up downloading a 2D CAD tool and using it to set points.  QCAD

Seems to work pretty well for what I am doing.  Just a pain that I have to go through the extra steps and have to learn yet another tool.

Trafton

Could a workaround be drawing lines between your points in the sketch? The lines/endpoints would be exported and could then be utilized, right?

No.  I need to have “points” for an import to an automated glue dispensing machine.  It recognizes point data as drops to place and line data as lines to place.  Wish is was that simple.

Does it recognize circles? Maybe a small diameter ~.01mm is recognized as point?
