Exporting Drawing Issue

First of all I am a newbee in need of help.

I tried to export a simple 3 view drawing that I created from a 3D .stp file. I went to output / DWG. and saved it to a file, which I than tried to open in my CAM program. Upon opening it, all that was there was a layer for the drawing border. and a layer for the title block, without any part layer / image.

While on the subject, the output / export feature only had the DWG and PDF option listed. Is there a way to export in a DXF format ?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for reaching out - currently our views are a specific kind of .dwg object that unfortunately isn't well supported in other programs - we are looking at opportunities to improve this.

At the moment we don't support .dxf out from drawings, but if you right click on a sketch in the modelling environment you can save it as a .dxf

Hopefully this helps, and sorry for any inconvenience.

Best,

Scott

Thanks for getting back to me Scott.

So, I export from sketch, a single .dxf view, at a time, which is done through an email... Right?

Hey Phil - It should be a direct file save to your machine.

Let me know if you encounter any issues. And if you get a chance, could you tell me a bit more about how you'd want to use a .dxf out from drawings -

As I mentioned, I am new to Fusion 360 and plan to switch over to it as a my go to program for CAD and most importantly CAM. I plan to transision by first learning the CAD and than the CAM, but as a stop gap, I'll need to produce a .dxf or .dwg to feed my current CAM system.

I'll try exporting come Monday, and let you know if I have any issues.

Thanks for your help.

So it is now Aug 2 2016. Has there been any progress on being able to output standard DXF format files to be used with 3rd party 2D CAM programs.

Hi @Dave.Sohlstrom

We currently rely on the DXF output of the sketch profile in the Model workspace - have you been able to use that workflow?

Best,

Scott
