Explode Polyline DXF for export/import to 3rd party software

Currently trying to export the Sketch9 in the attached to a DXF with 'exploded' polylines. The 3rd party software it's being imported to is MotorSolve by Infolytica and they are able to reliably produce 'exploded' polylines using AutoCAD and Solidworks. I typically use IronCAD for the heavy modeling work, but their DXF export (which 'explodes' by default) does not align using the y-axis because it exports from one view drawing only.

The Fusion exported DXF registers the orientation correctly, but MotorSolve cannot recognize some or all of the polylines.

Thank you!

Hi @Anonymous,

You can try to use this Fusion 360 App - DXF Spline to Polyline (link here) to see if that will convert your DXF to Polylines. I do not believe that Fusion exports Polylines by default to DXF, which is probably why you are seeing these errors. Let me know if that worked or not!

Thanks,

Hi @James.Youmatz,

Unfortunately the app did not change anything, the DXF still contains unrecognized types of polylines.

IronCAD exports the DXF in all AutoCAD versions in a format that can be read by MotorSolve, however it is impossible in IronCAD to align the DXF with the y-axis as required by MotorSolve.

I automatically assumed that Autodesk would be exporting DXFs in the same format across all software, or that it would at least be possible to export in the same format!

All I know for sure is that if AutoCAD is used to export the DXF it must be 'exploded' and NOT polylines. Also there are no splines in the sketch that I am generating which accounts for no difference in the resulting DXF.

Thank you for the suggestion though!

I have a similar issue - trying to export Fusion dxf into Nikon VMM. If I export a simple rectangle, the Nikon interprets it as a polyline not a set of interconnected lines - Fusion engineer told me that Fusion is sketch-based, not vector-based so the sketch is always exported as a polyline.
I really wish Fusion would allow me to simply explode my sketch into lines - like AutoCAD, LibreCAD, DraftSight, etc. IT shouldn't be that hard.
