Does anyone know how the time step is defined in event simulations? Is this automatic or do results interval settings impact this?

Hello @Anonymous Actually I have not used event simulation yet , But this might help you .   When selecting event simulation , click on that Icon I have circled in red , Then adjust settings you need .event simulation.png

Thanks for the reply, but those settings were what I referred to when I asked if the time step is defined by the interval setting or if its automatic. You've circled duration which is just the time span that the simulation is run...whereas timestep defines how the run is broken down.

With explicit solvers, the time step is pretty important and is based on characteristic length and material properties. Since there is no timestep setting I am guessing its automatic, but I guess it may also be possible to use result interval settings as a pseudosetting for timestep.

The Event Simulation explicit solver does automatic time step sizing. It will adjust as needed to get a solution. The results intervals you speak of are only snapshots of the results at the points in time divided across the duration.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need more detail.

Thanks @MikeSmell_ADSK, I assumed that was the case but wanted to verify.
