Error: Rib cannot be created. Ensure profile curve can intersect body, or flip

Hi,

I am trying to create a strut between a horizontal and vertical beam at 45 degrees. This is to increase stability for a steel frame and so I will want to have multiple struts to support the frame under loading so it can be safely stacked and moved around via a crane. 

I have followed all the tutorials I could for the Rib feature which seems like the most direct way to create a strut, yet I can't seem to figure out what the issue is with my workflow.

I have linked a screencast to try and explain the problem further. I am new to Fusion 360 having come from SolidWorks so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rib only works on one body, your L shape is made from 2 bodies.
